Broadwater Academy's Library provides resources to compliment, support, promote and enhance the activities carried out in all other aspects of the school. Materials in various forms are acquired, organized and maintained to give administrators, teachers, students and other patrons the necessary access to resource material for research, instruction, enrichment and enjoyment. Assistance and instruction are provided to help all library users become skillfully proficient in the best use of information resources. The Library also exists to instill in the students a love of reading and an appreciation of good books and to encourage them to become lifelong users of libraries and information.
Students in the Lower School (Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 5) visit the library with their class on a weekly scheduled basis. The curriculum is designed to meet the objectives listed below during the course of a student's Lower School years. Each year, these skills are presented and taught at the appropriate grade level, and the previous year's background and learning experiences are reviewed, strengthened and enhanced.
