Lower School

Grades PreK-4

Broadwater Academy provides a foundation of balanced learning, incorporating new and innovative best teaching practices with traditional teaching methods to ensure every student a life journey equipped for success. We focus on parental involvement, technology, motivated teachers and a well-rounded student.

welcoming atmosphere

We believe children need a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Multiple means of communication between teachers and parents, along with clear goals and expectations, ensures the best learning environment. Because it is ever-changing, providing cutting edge technology continues to be a top priority at Broadwater. Students are instructed in the proper use of technology and ethical standards when using information and ideas obtained from the Internet.

creative activities

Students are challenged with projects requiring the use of multimedia combining with hands-on, creative activities along with the traditional skills of handwriting, drill, and practice, giving them an educational balance that fosters a love of learning. Broadwater provides a safe and caring environment with an expectation of mutual respect among all members of the Broadwater family.

Middle School

Grades 5-8

At Broadwater, the middle grades are viewed as the foundation that provides its students with the skills necessary to succeed in a demanding college preparatory program. The middle grade period is a particularly critical phase of personal and intellectual development, and it requires a program that helps students participate actively and responsibly in a changing and increasingly interrelated world. Learning how to learn and how to evaluate information critically is as important as learning facts.

well rounded

While emphasizing developmental needs, our students are enrolled in a comprehensive program of study that includes core academic classes, an introductory fine arts curriculum, a comprehensive technology curriculum, foreign language, health and physical education, and the development of good organizational and study skills. These course offerings are required of all our middle grade students, as it is important for all students to share a common base of information and skills needed to achieve success in the Upper School.

An intramural and interscholastic athletic program provides opportunities for students to acquire skills and experience team play. Organizations, including academic and service clubs, student publications, musical/theatrical groups and student government, provide additional opportunities for student involvement.
