Broadwater Academy Music Educator honored as Guest Conductor

Megan Cartwright, Broadwater’s Lower School music education instructor, was honored recently and

chosen Guest Conductor for Virginia Music Educators’ Association (VMEA) District VIII Honors Choir.

This choir was assembled following auditions of over 600 talented young singers from Gloucester,

James City, Mathews, Southampton, Surry, Sussex, and York counties. Ms. Carwright is among the

distinguished music educators in the commonwealth who were chosen as guest conductors.

Megan Cartwright is a choral director and leading music educator on the Eastern Shore. A graduate

of James Madison University, she holds a Master of Music Education from Boston University and has

served in leadership for Virginia ACDA as the High School Choir Repertoire; Resources Chair.

Megan’s dynamic impact is felt in Broadwater’s program as she discovers and directs young talent.

She also teaches piano and voice and works as a music teacher with Arts Enter Cape Charles at the

Historic Palace Theatre, where she directs the Shore Singers Community Choir.
